Facilities and Activities

Life at Norwood House is stimulating, we believe active minds and active bodies are vital to keeping up spirits and a good quality of living. The different spaces within our home promote a variety of activities. We have a TV lounge, activities room, sensory room, quiet lounge and pets corner, which homes two budgies and a hamster. In each you can find our residents undertaking a whole range of activities, either in groups or individually, whether it is relaxing in our hair salon, socialising with residents at our afternoon film matinee or just reading today’s newspaper. A wide range of activities to suit out residents are catered for including group and individual based interests and hobbies.

Our dedicated activities Coordinator works hard to provide a varied and interesting programme of activities and events, informed by resident’s specific interests or requests. There is always a varied programme for social and leisure pursuits. We encourage the formation of clubs and interest groups within the home, our gardening club for example currently supplies vegetables and herbs to our busy kitchen.

We enjoy excellent relations with the local community with interest groups, entertainers, guest speakers, schools and clubs who are all regular visitors to our home. We view our home as being very much part of the local community.

At Norwood House we have witnessed first-hand the value to residents of internet based technologies that support correspondence between residents, family and friends. Wi-Fi is available around our home and we are constantly looking at ways to improve lives of our residents through technology, whether it’s for better communication, reminiscence or entertainment.
